Sarah Nolan, Executive Director
Sarah was born in Las Cruces and raised in Vado, NM with her mom and sister. After graduating from Gadsden High School she attended the University of San Francisco in San Francisco, CA where she received degrees in Theology and Latin American History. During an immersion semester in Central America she found her vocation in faith based community organizing, returned to the US and worked with the Archdiocese of San Francisco Office of Public Policy & Social Concerns and with the PICO National Network. In 2009 she returned to Las Cruces with her husband Patrick and daughter Eva.

Rose Ann Vasquez, Communications & Operations Manager
Rose Ann is a native Las Crucen and proud graduate of New Mexico State University. She possesses a Master's degree in Government from NMSU with a focus on security studies. Rose Ann brings valuable experience in the non-profit sector and knowledge in the field of social justice. She continues to serve on various committees throughout the county and remains an active member of the community. She joined CAFe as a community leader last year focused on preventing foreclosures in New Mexico.

Mariaelena Johnson, Faith & Democracy Fellow
Mariaelena spent her early childhood in El Paso, Texas until moving to Chaparral, NM with her parents where she was raised. She later focused her organizing efforts in the South Valley concentrating on immigration rights and policy reform. Mariaelena has successfully collaborated with other CAFe community leaders in organizing multiple actions, lobbying efforts, and engaging youth in civic participation. She is currently pursuing her degree in political science and continues to substitute teach in our public schools. She enjoys volunteering for the betterment of our community and supports the protection of our natural environment. Mariaelena is a part of the NMSU community, where she lives with her husband, Mark, and son, Hudson.

Carli Romero, Civic Engagement Campaign Field Manager
Carli Romero began her position with CAFe shortly after graduating with her Bachelors in Arts and Sciences from NMSU this May, 2012. Her community work in the county began in 2008 as a member of OASIS (Organization of Aggie Students Inspiring Sustainability) with whom she helped organize multiple Earth Day celebrations, Arbor Day activities in Las Cruces elementary schools and various World Café’s surrounding issues of food security and sustainability. She co-lead the Great Conversations on Campus during the fall of 2012, and has done extensive research around food security and economics as a past member of the Collegiate Advisory Board for the Federal Reserve Branch of El Paso as well as a member of NMSU’s award winning Model UN Team. Additionally Carli has completed focused research on local gaps in trauma treatment as well as resiliency and prevention education for women and youth in New Mexico.
