Executive Director's Message
Organizing is about people - not politics, not campaigns, but about people. Our families and community members work hard towards economic security and becoming capable persons full of life, hope and spirit, as God intended.
My aspiration and that of CAFe staff is to create experiences for individuals and families across Southern New Mexico to become actors in their communities. We want people from our congregations to have an experience of power and faith. Power in their ability to act with like minded neighbors and the faith to know that we can create the conditions that make it possible to thrive in good times and be resilient in tough times.
Today, many New Mexicans face tough times with little hope of recovering when crisis hits home. As one of 5 majority minority states in our country I believe that New Mexico can lead our nation in the lessons of living together. New Mexico can be a leader of our Nation if we give New Mexicans the opportunity to lead, teach and speak out about our struggles and values.
Organizing is about strategy. Community organizations like ours must implement good tactics and strategies so that those values are an ingredient of policy at the end of the day. Interventions that we pursue seek to bridge the space between the prophetic vision and the pragmatic solution.
Organizing is about culture. We are building an organization that is disciplined in our strategy, intentional about our relationships and determined to win on issues that hinder our communities. We create a culture of high expectations for our staff, board and community leaders. Join us!
