Anthony Moreno's Interview with Sarah Nolan on Fronteras

December 11, 2012 - Anthony Moreno discusses the violence in Mexico with Daniel E. Esser, PhD; School of International Service, American University, Washington D.C. and in a separate discussion with Sarah Nolan, Director of CAFe (Comunidades en Accion y de Fe) about the Latino vote.

NM CAFe Reports Success in Getting Out the Vote for the Primary Election

Picture

Las Cruces, June 5, 2012- NM Communidades en Accion y de Fe (CAFe) staff and dozens of volunteers continue to make a final push to the polls today.   In the past 2 weeks since the launch of CAFe’s
“Land of Opportunity” campaign, approximately 30 trained volunteers have been involved in phone banks and canvassing neighborhoods all across Dona Ana County to turn out people of faith and unlikely voters to the polls. CAFe is one of only two organizations in Dona Ana County that are targeting unlikely
and inactive voters across the county.

The “Land of Opportunity” civic engagement campaign is part of a 10-state civic engagement campaign that works to turn out people of faith to the polls. The “Land of Opportunity” campaign is a non-partisan campaign to increase participation in the electoral process and create momentum for policies that provide economic dignity for all New Mexicans.

CAFe had an ambitious goal to contact approximately 3,000 voters in 11 days across the county.  We are happy to report that together - our volunteers, dedicated staff, and community partners - have reached our goal with excellent numbers.  Of the registered voters contacted in Dona Ana County, 80% voters committed to vote in the primary election today.  In Otero County, 100% voters of those contacted committed to voting in the primary election.  The work continues as we make one final push to the polls today as we remind voters to exercise their right to VOTE TODAY!

The next phase is to register approximately 1,500 voters in Dona Ana County for the general election.  All organizations, church, civic, and youth groups are welcome to volunteer.  It's an excellent opportunity to learn more about our electoral process and engage with our communities across Dona Ana.

 We are non-partisan

NM CAFe is a 501(c)(3) non partisan non-profit organization and our civic engagement campaign is designed to comply with these standards.

Non-partisan means that no aspect of a program will, in any way, advocate, encourage, suggest, or imply the favoritism or preference of one political candidate or party over another.

The purpose of a non-partisan Get Out the Vote (GOTV) and voter registration campaign is to increase the participation rates in the electoral process.
