NM Communities in Action and Faith (CAFé) launches radio campaign in Support of Organ Mountains and Desert Peaks National Monument
(LAS CRUCES) -- NM Communities in Action and Faith (CAFé), a Dona Ana County faith-based organization, today launched a broad radio campaign calling attention to the economic and community benefits of creating a National Monument in the Organ Mountains and Desert Peaks region.
The group has sponsored two ads running on Las Cruces and Southern New Mexico radio. This is a large, multi-week radio buy.
“People of faith recognize that we are all responsible for taking care of God’s natural gifts and we all have a role to play in preserving these lands for future generations,” said Fr. Vince Petersen, Pastor at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Tortugas. “And that is what this effort to create a national monument in the Organ Mountains Desert Peaks region is all about.”
“The economic boost and sense of pride that national monument’s bring to their communities cannot be denied,” said Sarah Nolan, director of NM CAFé. “Protecting the Organ Mountains and Desert Peaks will not only preserve a critical piece of our shared heritage as Southern New Mexicans, it will also bring the promise of commerce – tourism and sorely needed jobs – to our region.”
